24° Bosphorus Cup • Acquisitions pre-tournament

Michela Pezzetti gyaku tsuki

During the training camp for the preparation of the 24° Bosphorus Cup (held on 16-17th April 2011 in Istanbul, Turkey), Virtual Sensei Team had the opportunity of doing another mocap session (see the previous session) with 2 athletes of the Italian National Karate Team:

Michela Pezzetti, member of the senior female kata team, 3rd at 2010 WKF World Championships (Belgrade, Serbia) and 2nd at 2010 EKF European Championships (Athens, Greece);

Sara Cardin, 2nd at 2010 WKF World Championships (Belgrade, Serbia) in kumite female -55 kg category and 1st at 2010 EKF European Championships (Athens, Greece) in kumite female -55 kg category.

This time the work was focused on the differentiation between techniques performed with or without the target pad.

Prof. Pierluigi Aschieri, head coach of the Italian Karate Team, ensured the accuracy of the technical executions and followed with attention the athletes’ work. His explanations about the neurophysiological peculiarities of these exercises will be fundamental in the interpretation of the results produced by Virtual Sensei software.

In addition to Alessandro Timmi and Prof. Ettore Pennestrì, this time Virtual Sensei Team lined up Andrea Timmi, who took care of photos (see gallery below), videos (coming soon) and played as sparring partner holding the target pad.

Thanks to all the mentioned people and in particular to the athletes for the fruitful collaboration, to the FIJLKAM federation for allowing us to perform the acquisitions in such a busy period and to the Nettuno Police Institute for hosting the event.
